sermon topic:
Instructions for Christian Households
Scripture: Colossians 3:18-21
Speaker: Rev. Daniel Lee
Sermon
Main points:
- It is wanting to live as Kingdom people, to put off the old earthly self and taking on the virtues of those who are now alive in Christ, those who seek peace and unity with members of God’s family, those who desires to live out the virtues of the fruit of the Spirit-love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control – this is the basis and context in which Paul gave these commands and this is the basis in which the Christian see, understand, and apply these commands in their relationships with their spouse and children.
- “Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.”
- Submission does not mean inequality. Literally, submission means “put yourself under, arrange yourself under someone, for a good and proper purpose.” It is a totally voluntary action. Submission is seen as the wife’s support for her husband.
- Wives submitting to their husbands is proper and fitting to the will and plan of God in regards to a family dynamic.
- Not just wives are called to submit but Christians are to submit “one to another.” (Eph. 5:21)
- “Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”
- To love his wife means a husband is to honor, value, respect, guard, protect, show delight in his wife.
- A husband is to sacrifice and give himself to his wife and family.
- A husband is not to be harsh with his wife – not to be severely critical, bitter, resentful, or sarcastic toward their wives.
- “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
- The word “obey” comes from the Greek which mean “to hear under someone.”
- Thus, children are exhorted to listen to their parents, recognizing that they are over them and have authority in their lives
- “Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.”
- The word for “embitter” is from the word “to stir up, arouse, or irritate.”
- This word translated embitter is in the present continuous tense. Thus, it is saying, “Fathers, do not keep on irritating your children. Don’t keep hammering away at it, nagging at them, or they will become discouraged.”
Personal Reflection/Group Discussion Questions:
- Husband, how have you loved your wife with your words, actions, and decisions? Does it exemplify how Christ loved the Church?
- Wife, how have you submitted to your husband with your words, actions, and decisions? Do you acknowledge his leadership of your home and how have you supported it?
- Children, do you try to please the Lord by obeying your parents? Are there areas where you have not submitted to their authority?
- Parents, in what ways can you encourage your child and how can you keep yourself from provoking them?

Kingdom Priorities – A Life That Lasts
Scripture: Matthew 7:24-29
Speaker: Pastor Amy Ho
Sermon
Main points:
Similarities between the two builders and their houses:
- Both heard Christ’s Words
- Both built houses
- Both houses were tested
Differences between the two builders and their houses:
- One put Jesus’ Words into practice / the other did not put them into practice
- One was a wise man / the other was a foolish man
- One built his house on the rock / the other built his house on sand
- One house did not fall / the other fell with a great crash
Personal Reflection/Group Discussion Questions:
- How are you building your life? What is your foundation? Do you want to build something lasting that will withstand the storms of this life and the storm of the judgement to come?
- What does it look like in your daily life to hear Jesus’ Words and put them into practice?
- What “sand” might God be revealing that you have been relying on instead of Christ?
- How have past storms revealed the foundation of your life?
- What is one concrete step of obedience that God is inviting you to take this week?

sermon topic:
Kingdom Priorities – Aligning Our Desires
Scripture: Philippians 3:7-14
Speaker: Pastor Amy Ho
Sermon
Main points:
- A Radical Revaluation (vv.7-8)
- Aligning our desires does not begin with throwing everything away. It begins with seeing Christ clearly — and when we do, we find ourselves loosening our grip on everything else.
- A New Foundation of Righteousness (vv.9-10a)
- The Apostle Paul rejects self-made righteousness and embraces received righteousness.
- It is NOT: Look at what I’ve done for God, but Look at what I am able to do with God.
- A Willingness to Share in Christ’s Sufferings (vv.10-11)
- We often desire the blessings of Christ without embracing the way of Christ.
- Do I still trust God when obedience is costly?
- Do I follow Christ when it disrupts my plans?
- A Focused, Forward-Pressing Life (vv.12-14)
- Paul challenges us to press on with undivided hearts.
- Aligning our desires means: we stop chasing perfection, and we start pursuing Christ — faithfully, pressing forward, and together.
Personal Reflection/Group Discussion Questions:
- What are some things in my life that I may be counting as “gain” more than Christ?
- What am I holding onto so tightly that I have no room left to receive Christ more fully?
- How does Paul’s definition of success challenge my own goals and ambitions?
- In what ways might God be inviting me to know Christ more deeply, not just serve Him more actively?
- What does it look like for me, practically, to “press on” in my current season of life?

sermon topic:
Kingdom Priorities – The Upside Down Kingdom of God
Scripture: Matthew 5:1-12
Speaker: Rev. Daniel Lee
Sermon
Main points:
- The Beatitudes are not eight different kinds of people. They are one picture of a disciple of Christ.
- These are eight character traits that identify true servanthood.
- When all eight are mixed together in a life, balance emerges in the life of the disciple.
Personal Reflection/Group Discussion Questions:
- Have you counted the cost of following Jesus and taking on the character described in the Beatitudes? How willing are you still to follow Jesus knowing the cost and what you need to give up?
- Since coming to know Christ as your Lord and Saviour, how has the Holy Spirit worked to develop the character of the Beatitudes in your life?
- How and where can you practice the character of the Beatitudes in the coming days?

- Earthly Treasures are Temporary

sermon topic:
Kingdom Priorities – Seek First
Scripture: Matthew 6:25-34
Speaker: Pastor Amy Ho
Sermon
Main points:
What does “Seek” mean?
- On-going Pursuit, Intentional Focus, Active Alignment
God’s Kingdom is:
- God’s Rule & Reign
- God’s Will be Done
- God’s Values Shaping Our Lives
God’s Righteousness refers to:
- The Right Relationship with God
- The Right Living that flows from that relationship
- Living according to God’s Character and ways
Seek First His Kingdom & His Righteousness teaches us:
- Reorder Our Priorities – God is not added to our schedule, He shapes it.
- Address Our Anxiety – Choose to trust in God over control.
- Live Differently as God’s People – Acknowledge that God is Enough.
- Daily Dependence (v. 34) – Seeking first is not about worrying less tomorrow, but trusting God today.
Personal Reflection/Group Discussion Questions:
- What are the specific worries or anxieties you are carrying into 2026, and what do they reveal about where you are placing your trust—God’s provision or your own control?
- In your daily life (time, finances, decisions, relationships), where might God be “added on” rather than truly coming first? What would need to change for His Kingdom to shape your priorities more fully?
- When you worry, do you find yourself focusing more on what God can do for you or on who God truly is? How can growing in the knowledge of God’s character help strengthen your faith?
- What is one practical step you can take this week to actively “seek first” God’s Kingdom and righteousness—especially in an area where you are tempted to rely on fear, comparison, or worldly standards?
